Pinterest App: Everything You Need to Know About the Pinterest App!

I frequently use Facebook to keep in contact with family and friends. On FaceBook, I’m quite happy to post photographs, status updates, and other such items.

However, my friends and family utilize Pinterest (pinterest.com, and there is also a free Pinterest app) to share their thoughts, photographs, likes, and hobbies with the world (pins). Often, the best way to begin is by searching for the topic you’re most interested in.

They use Pinterest to share things, but they spend a lot of time “pinning,” or clicking on and looking at the information that has already been shared by others.

On first impressions, you may find the website difficult to navigate due to its reliance only on graphics. I’m sure I was.

Feeling Left Out:

Despite this, I was still left out. As a result, I went to Pinterest.com and opened an account to see what all the fuss was about.

Here are some of my opinions, what I appreciate about Pinterest, my observations about how it works, how it differs from other social media platforms, and if it can be utilized for personal enjoyment or as a business tool.

How Does Pinterest Work?

So, what is Pinterest, and how does it function?? Pinning photos or videos to a board (i.e. a collection of ‘pins,’ generally with a similar topic) allows users to visually share, and find new interests by exploring what other users have posted.

A “Pinterest Lens” function has also recently been implemented. If you take a picture of something on Pinterest, Lens allows you to uncover ideas that are inspired by that image.

Through the use of images, this social network focuses on the idea of a person’s personal style, allowing you to connect with other people who share your interests and find new ones.

The Lens Is a Great Added Feature in The Pinterest App.

The mission of Pinterest is to “connect the globe by sharing and discovering amazing things,” according to the company’s website.

Using the Pinterest bookmarklet, users may either upload a picture from their PC or pin web pages they find interesting.

Like Other Social Networks

Pinterest, like most other social networks, allows users to engage in a wide range of typical social networking activities.

They may do this by pinning material from their friends, liking and comment on other people’s boards, re-pinning content to their own boards, sharing others’ media on Facebook and Twitter or emailing it, or even embedding individual pins on their website or blog.

2013 was a huge year for Pinterest. For the first time, they outperformed email and Facebook as a means of exchanging information, which was considered to be impossible only a short time ago.

Pinterest estimates that it will have over 320 million monthly active users by the year 2020. Today, Pinterest has a male user base of over 40% and is the internet’s third-largest social network.

Not Just Cooking and Decorating

After initially focusing on themes like food, décor, fashion, and gardening, Pinterest has expanded to include a wide range of other topics of interest to women. Over time, the site’s user base has grown to include people of every gender and age.

The fact that there are boards for hobbies like flyfishing, hunting, and cigars on Pinterest was a nice surprise to me, so I wouldn’t be shocked if you found an image from almost any category.

What Is Pinterest Used For?

New data from online content distribution firm ShareThis shows that Pinterest is currently the fastest-growing media platform for sharing online content.

In the third quarter of 2013, ShareThis examined more than 120 social media networks and two million websites for the number of monthly ShareThis shares.

Content sharing on Pinterest climbed by 19.2 percent in the last quarter of 2013, while LinkedIn content sharing rose by 15.1. Content sharing on Facebook increased by 14.7%, whilst it decreased by 7.6% on Twitter. (An infographic is seen below).

Pinterest for Business

To take advantage of this spike, businesses and shopping websites should sell their products and services as part of their marketing strategy.

For several months in a row, several firms have seen revenues grow. Businesses may use Pinterest’s visual medium to create visuals that will pique the interest of their target audience.

Promoting specials, new items, and more using eye-catching infographics and other visual media may result in increased sales and visitors to your website.

In addition to helping consumers connect with the company’s personnel, including images of them on the company’s website may assist potential clients or customers put a face to a name.
