Chinese American stand-up comedian Jimmy O. Yang also works as an actor and a writer. Jimmy O. Yang studied at the University of California, San Diego, and earned an economics degree there. It’s interesting to note that Silicon Valley founder Mike Judge, a graduate of UC San Diego, delivered the commencement address at his graduation.
Early Life
Yang was born Au-Yeung Man-Sing in Hong Kong while it was under British administration. Both of his parents moved from Shanghai to Hong Kong after being born there. When Yang was thirteen years old, his family emigrated to the US and settled in Los Angeles, California.
In order to give Jimmy Yang and his brother Roy access to greater educational opportunities, his parents followed his aunt and grandmother who had already emigrated to the country. He attended John Burroughs Middle School, enrolling in the eighth grade when he got there. Later, he went to Beverly Hills High School.
2009 saw Yang graduate with a bachelor’s in economics from the University of California, San Diego. At his college graduation, Mike Judge, a future Silicon Valley showrunner and fellow UCSD alumnus, gave the commencement speech.

Career
He registered for Central Casting, which had a low entry hurdle, as well as other casting websites when he got back to Los Angeles. He was motivated to think about acting after a friend informed him that there was money to be made in residual checks from advertisements. He also enrolled in acting lessons while performing stand-up routines across Southern California. Yang finally received an acting role with Vesta Talent Agency.

Yang has kept performing stand-up comedy; in 2018, he took part in a tour inspired by the book.

Jimmy O. Yang currently isn’t married and doesn’t have a wife, although he does have a girlfriend, whom he stated in a Vanity Fair interview.
Jimmy mentioned in that interview how recent his current relationship is. He hasn’t addressed her by name, but rather has noted her career in the technological industry.

Personal Life
Yang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and Shanghainese in addition to English. Richard Ouyang, Yang’s father, eventually joined the same talent agency and participated in a number of movies, including Patriots Day, where he played his son’s character’s father.
In 2015, Yang obtained American citizenship. He also maintains a cooking-focused YouTube channel.
