Media Career

Beginning in the early 1990s, Bannon dove headfirst into the media industry, rising to the position of executive producer on a number of Hollywood films (including “The Indian Runner” and “Titus”) before teaming up with fellow Hollywood heavyweight Jeff Kwatinetz in 2002 to form the management company The Firm, Inc.

This was followed by Bannon’s documentary on Ronald Reagan, titled “In the Face of Evil;” it was during the production of this film that Bannon first met conservative journalist and publisher Andrew Breitbart, who likened Bannon to Nazi filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl.

From 2007 through 2011, Bannon served as CEO and chair of Affinity Media, where he funded and produced insane far-right films like “The Undefeated” and “Occupy Unmasked.” He also held the position of vice president of the board at Cambridge Analytica, the company that allegedly targeted American voters with improper data analytics during the 2016 presidential election.

Bannon’s most infamous work in the media is as a co-founder of Breitbart News, a far-right website known for its publication of hate speech against minorities and women. After a brief stint in the White House, he returned to his role as executive chair of the website’s parent firm in 2017. Breitbart fired Bannon in 2018. After that, he established the shadowy political action committee Citizens of the American Republic.

Eventually, he was forced out of office in April 2017, and he left the White House for good in August.

Upon leaving the White House, Bannon traveled across Europe to address far-right political gatherings with the intention of establishing a worldwide network of fascist parties.

In August 2020, federal prosecutors in New York charged Bannon and three other individuals with scamming contributors in a massive crowdfunding effort that falsely purported to be gathering money for building a wall along the US-Mexico border. Trump granted Bannon a pardon before the scheduled start of his trial, despite the fact that Bannon had pleaded not guilty.
