Bird is also a stand-up comedian; he competed in Chortle’s national student comedy competitions in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, placing second in his final attempt.
Along with Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison, and James Buckley, Bird joined the cast of E4’s teen comedy ‘The Inbetweeners’ in 2008, playing the role of Will McKenzie.
He was named Best Male Newcomer in 2008 and Best Actor in 2009 at the British Comedy Awards.
In 2010, Bird produced a BBC Three comedy panel show called “The King Is Dead,” in which three celebrities compete in a series of satirical quiz rounds and challenges to replace a deceased famous person.
