Music Career

At the age of 27, Sharon’s father (who managed Black Sabbath) dismissed Ozzy Osbourne. Then, Sharon took over as Ozzy Osbourne’s manager and aided at the beginning of his solo career. First, she helped him locate a new band, and then she facilitated the making of his debut solo album, Blizzard of Ozz.
Over six million copies of the record have been sold worldwide. With Ozzy’s following album, Diary of a Madman, she took on a more hands-on role in overseeing the entire band. The band parted ways with two of its members after they grumbled about being paid so little for all their hard work.
When the band went on tour following the publication of Diary of a Madman, another contentious episode happened. Ozzy’s primary guitarist and creative force, Randy Rhoades, perished in a tragic aircraft crash.
Rhoades and the rest of the tour crew were high on drugs when they decided to fly a tiny plane as near to the tour bus as possible. Since Randy Rhoades favored a sober lifestyle and only got on the plane to snap photographs with his new camera, he was an unwitting victim of the chaos.
From that point on, Sharon Osbourne oversaw all aspects of Ozzy’s career as a manager. There was a lot of criticism around her management technique since she frequently fired members of the bands for mysterious reasons. Ozzy’s solo career was hugely successful, though; to date, he’s put out 12 albums under Sharon Osbourne’s supervision.
Following her success in gaining Ozzy’s attention, Sharon founded her own management firm, Sharon Osbourne Management, and began working with other bands. She runs the firm alone and is responsible for booking acts like The Smashing Pumpkins, Queen, and Motorhead. Her children Kelly and Jack have also followed in her footsteps and become successful musicians thanks to her guidance.
