Los Angeles rapper and songwriter Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed on Sunday outside his clothing store, Marathon. He was nominated for best rap album at this year’s Grammys, and his music has gained a reputation for its roughness and social awareness. Early Life:
Ermias Asghedom was born to Angelique Smith and Dawit Asghedom on August 15, 1985, in Los Angeles. He and his siblings, Samuel and Samantha, grew up in South Los Angeles’s Crenshaw neighborhood. He started off in the Castle Heights area’s Alexander Hamilton High School but left early. He ran away from home at the age of 14 to become a member of the Crips, a gang with a strong presence in his Crenshaw neighborhood. Asghedom and his brother Samuel spent three months in their father’s home country of Eritrea in East Africa when Asghedom was 19 years old (2004). Asghedom claimed his decision to start advocating for social change was sparked by his travels.

Nipsey decided not to extend his contract with Epic and subsequently left the label in 2010.
In 2010, he contributed to “We Are the World 25,” a benefit single for Haiti. Personal Life and Death:
Hussle cared about helping others, especially other young black guys. Through his activism and singing, he condemned gun violence. He talked candidly about his time spent in gangs. Hussle established a student hangout and coworking space called Vector 90 with his own money and spent time in schools and with students. After living in the area, he came to the conclusion that the Crenshaw community was severely under-served and that young people would benefit from access to shared office space. He hoped that underprivileged kids in the neighborhood would put extra effort into STEM subjects.
Hussle is the father of a daughter named Emani, however, he and her mother never dated. In 2013, Nipsey started dating actress Lauren London. Together, they had a baby in 2016.
Nipsey Hussle was fatally murdered on March 31, 2019, in front of his Los Angeles apparel business. He had reached the age of 33. At 3:19 p.m. on that day, he was shot at least ten times in the parking lot of his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles. The arrest on April 2, 2019, of 29-year-old Eric Ronald Holder Jr. The start of his trial, which has been delayed multiple times because of the COVID-10 epidemic, is now scheduled for March of 2021.
