In 1970, Kenny met Jim Messina, and the two began working on Kenny’s debut solo album, which was to be released through ABC-Dunhill. However, by the time they finished recording the album, they had formed a duet, with the name Loggins and Messina. They put out six albums as a duo before splitting up in 1976. Kenny’s fortune grew with the success of the band’s subsequent albums, beginning with 1971’s “Sittin’ In” and continuing with “Full Sail,” “Mother Lode,” and “Native Sons,” all of which were released between 1973 and 1976.
