With a net worth of $5 million, Jo Koy is an American-Filipino stand-up comedian. Jo has released several highly-regarded comedy specials and is currently one of the most in-demand headlining acts in the country.
Career
In the mid-1990s, he began his stand-up career in Las Vegas, where he became a regular in the show “Catch a Rising Star” at the MGM Grand. Because of this, he decided to relocate to California. After his stint at the MGM Grand, Jo hired out the Huntridge Theater and toured the neighborhood to promote his own stand-up shows. A spot on BET’s “Comic View” followed.
Since then, he was nominated for and won a slew of comedy awards and featured on a wide variety of critically acclaimed television shows and tours. Two seasons of “Comic View” later, he was headlining his own stand-up specials on television, such as “Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza!” Jo has performed on numerous “I Love the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s” episodes on VH1, and she won the Showtime at the Apollo competition.
Over the course of the season, he appeared on more than 100 episodes of “Chelsea Lately” as a roundtable contributor. Koy’s performance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” was one of the few to be met with a standing ovation.
Koy has appeared on “The Adam Carolla Show” numerous times. His own PodcastOne show, “The Koy Pond,” is hosted by him. After the success of “Don’t Make Him Angry” and “Lights Out,” two of Koy’s Comedy Central specials, Koy’s third comedy special, “Jo Koy: Life from Seattle,” was published on Netflix around the world on March 28, 2017.
In February 2019, Koy performed two concerts at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado, for the closing night of the renowned Aspen Laugh Festival, and in June 2019, he released another Netflix special titled “Joy Koy: Comin’ In Hot.” Koy and Netflix produced a new comedy special titled “Jo Koy: In His Elements” on June 12, 2020, and it included Filipino American comedians DJs, and the B-Boys.

Personal Life

Joseph Herbert Jr. was born to Jo and his ex-wife Angie King in 2003. Koy has said in interviews that they have been able to co-parent amicably and remain close friends despite their divorce. Jo has professed to have an unbreakable link with his young son.
Koy has been quite secretive about his personal life since after his divorce. In 2018, he was said to be engaged to Amy Bray, and he has since been linked to singer/actress Tia Carrere.
Jo Koy has received a lot of praise for his selfless service to the community. In 2009, on August 4th, he held his first charity event under the auspices of his own organization, The Jo Koy Foundation.
Koy hosted a “Hilarity for Charity” benefit stand-up comedy show at the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club in the centre of Citywalk, University City, California, with several surprise guests. The Children’s Hospital of Orange County received 100% of the ticket sales proceeds.
