Radio Career
Because of David Letterman’s early success on radio, Kimmel got his own start in the industry while still in high school. While still in school, he pursued his interest in radio and eventually obtained his first paying position as a co-host of the morning show The Me and Him Show on Seattle’s KZOK-FM.
In 1990, he and his co-host Kent Voss were let go, mostly because of the high costs associated with their on-air antics. Kimmel moved to Palm Springs, California to launch his own talk show and hired Carson Daly, a boyhood pal. Over the course of five years, Jimmy was known as “Jimmy the Sports Guy” on KROQ-FM in Los Angeles, where he worked with the Kevin and Bean morning program.

His wife is Molly McNearney, whom he wed in July of 2013. The pair has had two children, Jane and William John. Surgery on their newborn baby, who was born with a rare congenital cardiac abnormality, was a huge success. When Kimmel returned to the show, he told viewers about his horrific ordeal.

Jimmy has many residences in the Los Angeles region. Jimmy spent $2,175,000 in 2004 on a house in Hermosa Beach, California, just one block from the sand. In 2014, he spent $2.25 million on the second property in Hermosa. He gave this house to his wife’s sister in a deed at some point.
He bought another Hermosa property for $8.2 million in 2018. The existing dwelling on the site is a rather small house of around 2,200 square feet. The floor plan for sale suggests a 20,000-square-foot future dwelling.
Jimmy also has a $7.1 million two-parcel mansion in the Hollywood Hills, overlooking the illustrious Chateau Marmont, which is just outside of Hermosa.
