Jimmy Kimmel Bio
Jimmy Kimmel was born on May 22, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York to Joan (Iacono) and James John (an American Express and IBM executive) Kimmel. Jimmy is the eldest of three children. Jimmy Kimmel attended Catholic school and served as an altar boy when he was younger.
Jimmy Kimmel got his start in radio like David Letterman did, anchoring a Sunday night interview program on UNLV’s campus station KUNV while still in high school. While working at KZOK in 1990, Jimmy Kimmel and Voss were let go, and a year later, they were let go again, this time from WRBQ-FM in Tampa, Florida.
In the past, Jimmy Kimmel had turned down producer Michael Davies’ proposals for television series since he wasn’t interested in them. However, in 1997, Kimmel accepted Davies’ offer to star as Ben Stein’s hilarious foil on the game show Win Ben Stein’s Money, which debuted on Comedy Central. As part of his tenure on Win Ben Stein’s Money in 1999, Jimmy Kimmel co-hosted and co-produced The Man Show on Comedy Central alongside Adam Carolla and Daniel Kellison.

Because of David Letterman’s early success on radio, Kimmel got his own start in the industry while still in high school. While still in school, he pursued his interest in radio and eventually obtained his first paying position as a co-host of the morning show The Me and Him Show on Seattle’s KZOK-FM.
In 1990, he and his co-host Kent Voss were let go, mostly because of the high costs associated with their on-air antics. Kimmel was initially uninterested in pursuing a career in television. He started off writing promos for Fox broadcasters and eventually took over the job himself. In 1997, Kimmel was given a spot on Win Ben Stein’s Money on Comedy Central as the “funny everyman” equivalent to Ben Stein.
They took home the Emmy for best hosts of a game show together. Before leaving Win Ben Stein’s Money in 1999, Kimmel co-hosted and co-produced The Man Show with Adam Carolla. In light of the show’s popularity, Kimmel and Carolla developed Crank Yankers for Comedy Central, in which Kimmel not only stars but also provides the voices for various characters.
In 2003, Jimmy made the decision to leave The Man Show for good and launch his own talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, which has since become a huge hit. The show is not broadcast in real-time, despite its name. Jimmy has built a reputation for his eccentric, “strange” demeanor and unconventional approach to conducting interviews.
He has been into his share of fights and scandals, as do other talk show presenters. He says that David Letterman and Howard Stern have been the most influential hosts on him. Jimmy has hosted episodes of both “Larry King Live” and “Live with Regis and Kelly” as a guest presenter.
To achieve the latter, he set a new Guinness World Record by making the daily trek between New York and Los Angeles for five days straight. In addition to his success as a comedian, he has also become a sought-after presenter for award events, having presided over the Academy Awards in 2017 and the Primetime Emmys in both 2012 and 2016. For five years in a row, he presided over the American Music Awards. In 2013, Kimmel was honored with a star at 6840 Hollywood Boulevard on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He bought another Hermosa property for $8.2 million in 2018. The existing dwelling on the site is a rather small house of around 2,200 square feet. The floor plan for sale suggests a 20,000-square-foot future dwelling.
Jimmy also has a $7.1 million two-parcel mansion in the Hollywood Hills, overlooking the illustrious Chateau Marmont, which is just outside of Hermosa.
