Saint got his start in the television industry as a page for NBC. During the 1946–1947 season, she had an appearance on the live NBC television show Campus Hoopla. Her appearances on the show were captured on kinescope, a now-extinct medium, and the Library of Congress has audio recordings of the broadcasts. She was also one of the original singing “Bonnie Maids” featured in the 1949 NBC variety show Bonnie Maid’s Versa-Tile Varieties.
In 1947, she was featured in a Life Magazine special on television, and in 1949, she was the subject of a major article on her life as a struggling actress in New York City, where she was making pennies an hour from early television. As late as the 1940s, Saint was still relying heavily on her radio and TV career to support herself. She played alongside Lillian Gish and Jo Van Fleet in the Horton Foote play The Trip to Bountiful (1953) on Broadway and earned the Drama Critics Award for her performance.

On October 28, 1951, Saint wed director and producer Jeffrey Hayden. They brought forth two members of the Hayden family: son Darrell and daughter Laurette. Saint and Hayden were married for 65 years and had four grandkids before Hayden’s untimely passing on December 24, 2016, at the age of 90.
