Amazon Studios had hinted at a Season 3 renewal for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series by Amazon Studios was an expensive undertaking, but it was all worthwhile. The head of global TV for Amazon Studios, Vernon Sanders, assessed the fantasy series’ performance and hinted at upcoming projects in an interview with Deadline.

The first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power cost Amazon $456 million, making it the most expensive television program ever produced. The series shattered Prime Video records, drew a younger audience in the 18-34 age group, and attracted more than 100 million viewers, according to Sanders, who claimed that the risk “had more than paid off.”

It was a “company-wide success” because it helped J.R.R. Tolkien’s original works as well. Several of Tolkien’s books ended up among Amazon’s best-selling books for the entire year. Sanders added that season two is presently in production and will include larger battle scenes and a faster tempo of narration. The location of the filming has also changed from New Zealand to the UK.

“It’s going fantastic. We now get to enjoy watching the enjoyment of the plot escalating as Sauron is exposed because Season 1 had so much set to do. And I believe viewers can anticipate a program that, while remaining true to itself, will leave them with the impression that the stakes have never been higher. They will be interested in seeing what the rings are capable of and how the various world factions respond to those implications now that they are in play. I anticipate it being incredibly compelling,” Sanders remarked.

Sanders hinted that all of this leads to the third season. Even though there hasn’t been a formal announcement, a third season appears likely. “We have every reason to be excited, and we are completely committed. They did a fantastic job. This is a wonderful topic regarding Season 3. We are probably two to three months into the season, but I believe there may be news in the coming months. The main reason we haven’t gotten there yet is probably that we’ve been so focused on Season 2, but I would anticipate there will be news in the new year,” the Amazon boss hinted. “There’s so much preparation and work that’s essential for us to get this mounted.
