Test Screening a Supposed Dud for ‘The Exorcist: Believer’
David Gordon Green was reportedly engaged to revitalize The Exorcist after revitalizing the Halloween brand for three new films. The Exorcist: Believer, the first of three new sequels he intends to direct, will be released later this year. Sadly, it appears that a preliminary screening of The Exorcist: Believer has so far failed.
Of course, these occurrences do occur, and poor test screening results don’t always indicate a poor final product. Particularly if the studio may now release retakes or other changes to polish the movie. But we’ll have to wait and watch how things play out there. Negative reviews for The Exorcist: Believerscreening is currently appearing on Letterboxd and other social media sites.
One source noted that many criticisms are that it’s too long and not terrifying, as you can see below.

On the plus side, everyone seems to agree that there is one fantastic jump scare in there. Perhaps the moment will be as memorable as Exorcist III’s famous leap fright.
Reactions I’ve heard to the EXORCIST: BELIEVER test screening in NY aren’t great. Common complaints are that it’s too long and not scary. Maybe reshoots will save the day?

Always give a movie the benefit of the doubt when it’s in this stage. especially when a lot of good movies were scrapped after receiving poor reviews at test screenings. We can only hope that everyone concerned makes the best decisions moving ahead.Exorcistsequel(s).
