John Wick: Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski Break Down the Last Chapter!
Fans have been anticipating John Wick: Chapter 4 after the popularity of the first three John Wick movies, and thankfully it has here. But if you’ve seen it, you probably have a few inquiries regarding what you just watched.

If you’ve seen John Wick: Chapter 4, you already know that John Wick loses the battle with Caine (Donnie Yen) and Marquis Vincent de Gramont at the end of the movie (Bill Skarsg rd). Wick’s peaceful death, knowing that justice had been served, and the fact that he was buried close to his wife made it feel like a suitable if rather unexpected, conclusion.
In an Interview with Thr, Keanu Reeves Discussed the Choice to Conclude It This Way, Saying:
Chapter Three’s reception from the audience gave us the chance to make another movie, and we wondered why. The topic of mortality and specifically John Wick’s death came up when Chad and I were conversing. The goal of the film was for him to find some form of liberation or tranquility. Let’s do another one can’t be the only response. In essence, it was about death or a method of dying. The Hagakure greatly motivated us.

Hagakure Is a Japanese Code of Ethics, and Director Chad Stahelski Added:
We kind of adopted the notion of the method of dying or the way we live well to die well.
Stahelski also discussed the movie’s ending, even claiming that Lionsgate wasn’t initially on board with the concept:
What are you f*cking thinking, was the reply. Are you f*cking insane? read the note. According to Stahelski, The Hollywood Reporter. And Keanu and I simply grinned and agreed. We made the decision that we wanted to tie everything together, and we wondered, “How do you say goodbye properly?” So that’s how we presented it to the studio because, hey, this has to come to an end at some point.
Stahelski Also Disclosed that The Alternate Conclusion Wasn’t Well Received by Test Audiences:
We wanted [the funeral scene] to have a little bit more mystery, so there was another way to approach it. This explains why the dog looks up at the end of the burial scene. When we performed a test screening, the audience strongly objected to [the new closing shot that was captured during additional photography]. Hence, we believed that the first time was the charm, and to the studio’s credit, they didn’t even bat an eye.

While it may technically be the end of John Wick, it won t be the last time we see Reeves play the character as he is set to appear in ballerina, a spin-off movie starring Ana De Armas that is set between the third and fourth John Wick films. Also, a prequel TV show called The Continental will air on Peacock in the future. John Wick: Chapter 4’s post-credits sequence also makes reference to a prospective confrontation between Akira and Caine.
