Fans of the Oscars, if you thought Sound of Metal was entertaining, you’re going to want to check out CODA.

The dramatic comedy was successful at the SAG Awards and the BAFTA Awards, and it received nominations for awards at the Golden Globes. Now, at the 94th Academy Awards, it is being considered for several awards in a variety of categories.

Both “Best Picture” and “Best Adapted Screenplay” nominations have been given to the film “CODA,” which is an acronym that stands for “child of deaf adults.” In addition to this, Troy Kotsur, who is a member of the cast of CODA, received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

This nomination makes history as it is the first time in Oscar history that an actor who is deaf has been recognized for his performance. According to The New York Times, after Troy tried out for the Sound of Metal but was not selected for the role, he considers CODA to be an even greater “gift.”

The coming-of-age narrative written by Sian Heder is the English and American version of the comic French film La Famille Bélier. The original film was made in France. Ruby, played by Emilia Jones, is a young woman in CODA who has the ambition of becoming a singer in the future.

She was the only hearing member of her family to grow up in a home where everyone else was deaf, and now she’s ready to pursue an academic career at Berklee School of Music. But she finds herself in the tough position of balancing her aspirations with helping her family, which consists of Frank (Troy Kotsur), Jackie (Marlee Matlin), and Leo navigate the hearing world. This is a terrible position for her to be in (Daniel Durant).
