‘House of The Dragon’ Episode 4 Takes a Surprising Turn

In the fourth episode of “House of the Dragon,” Daenerys Targaryen returns to King’s Landing to join in the festivities commemorating the conclusion of the fight on the Stepstones. He isn’t liked by his sibling for very long. There are stories about them after they take Rhaenyra to a brothel, and some of them aren’t completely false. During their journey, Daemon and Rhaenyra do enjoy a moment together, but it doesn’t go as far as the rumors have it.
Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) is not deterred, however, and reports the common sentiment to King Henry VIII. Viserys defends his daughter in denial, but he has less compassion for Daemon. He once again exiles his sibling from the capital city. The courtship of Rhaenyra is over, as he demands that she marry Ser Laenor Velaryon (Theo Nate).
Rhaenyra accepts this, but only on the condition that she gets her own way. She sows seeds of doubt in Viserys’ mind about Otto’s loyalty to the realm by making accusations that Otto isn’t acting in its best interests. It is because of her that her father dismissed his Hand of the King. And in the episode’s closing minutes, he does just that, arriving to the same conclusions as his daughter.
That’s going to cause tension between Rhaenyra and Alicent (Emily Carey), who have a temporary peace treaty in “King of the Narrow Sea,” despite the fact that it’s a sham. Alice goes to Rhaenyra to seek reassurance that her father’s accusations are unfounded, and Rhaenyra ends up persuading her. And Alice is so convinced that she even vouchsafes her before the king.
However, Rhaenyra fails to mention that following her date with Daemon, she did sleep with someone else: Ser Criston Cole (Fabiel Franken). If Alicent finds out about her omission, it could hurt her. In Episode 5 of House of the Dragon, we’ll see if this causes any problems for her wedding.

What to Expect when Episode 5 Airs on HBO
HBO has teased that the wedding of Rhaenyra and Laenor will be featured in the upcoming fifth episode of House of the Dragon. It’s bound to be a disaster, just like every single wedding in Game of Thrones. Promo footage shows a fight breaking out during the celebrations, while the source of the fighting isn’t made apparent.
Speculation about Rhaenyra’s succession is brought up again in the preview, suggesting that this is where the trouble originates. Her feelings for Criston Cole, though, are simmering and could explode at any time. The young knight unsheathes his sword in the preview, suggesting his involvement in the conflict.
The final minutes of the clip also features Otto Hightower urging Alicent that she should prepare Aegon to lead. He foretells King Viserys’s impending death. The program has been hinting at this change for quite some time, but until far there has been very little actual development.
House of the Dragon readers should get used to saying goodbye to young Rhaenyra and Alicent regardless of what happens in the next volume. We anticipate a future time leap in which Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke will assume these responsibilities. Since we’ve already passed the halfway mark, it’s possible that anything may happen now. Episode 5 will give us a chance to see more of Milly Alcock and Emily Carey.
