According to the movie’s premise, based on actual events in the Wild West in the early 1900s, Willie Boy falls in love with Carlota of the Chemehuevi tribe despite being forbidden to be with her. A fatal occurrence compels the young couple to leave the only place they know as home because of her father’s refusal to give his approval to the relationship and the dispute between the two families. Willie Boy and Carlota struggle to keep going in this heartbreaking story of love, sorrow, and realization against all the odds stacked against them.
