A new cut of Mark Wahlberg s 2022 film Father Stu is set to release in theaters later this year, with Father Stu: Reborn set for a theatrical release on December 9, 2022

While the original picture, which was released over Easter weekend in 2022, was rated R, the current edition of the movie has been trimmed to match a PG-13 rating. According to several rating websites, the movie received generally conflicting reviews from critics, despite the fact that most viewers seemed to enjoy it.

Father Stuart was partially based on Father Stuart Long, a real-life boxer-turned-priest who turned to box as a kind of release after growing up as an angry young man. Long’s career stalled out after he was involved in a terrible motorbike accident. He reportedly experienced an out-of-body experience that led him to find his faith and enroll in Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon.

According to the synopsis, the movie is an unflinchingly honest, humorous, and ultimately inspiring drama about a lost man who discovers his purpose in a very unexpected location. Stuart Long relocates to Los Angeles in hopes of achieving prominence after an accident terminates his amateur boxing career.
