The Third Princess Diaries Is Being Worked On at Disney!
A new entry in The Princess Diaries film franchise is in the works at Disney, according to a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter. The Princess Diaries 3 will reportedly be a continuation of the movie starring Anne Hathaway rather than a reboot or remake, and Aadrita Mukerji will pen the narrative.
Fans will just have to wait for further details on that since the report states that Hathaway does not currently have a deal to return, although she has frequently stated that she would be open to doing so should the opportunity arise.

In the 2001 film The Princess Diaries, Anne Hathaway played a teenage American girl who subsequently discovered she was Genovia’s heir apparent. The movie itself starred Julie Andrews and was based on the same-named Meg Cabot novel. The movie received almost unanimous acclaim, making Anne Hathaway a household name and grossing more than $165 million at the box office—far more than many anticipated given its G-rating and broad subject matter.

In the 2004 film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Hathaway and Andrews reprised their roles. In that movie, Anne Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis returned to Genovia to complete the plot from the first one and finally become Queen. With $134 million in box office receipts, that movie was also a huge hit for Disney, despite receiving less favorable reviews than its predecessor.
