The historic battle between Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin is receiving a scripted series starring Kate McKinnon.
You might think you know everything there is to know about Carole Baskin and Joe “Exotic” Maldonado-Passage if you’ve seen Tiger King or even just read a few articles about it. Joe vs Carole, a new Peacock Original, argues that you don’t know everything.
When Is the Release Date of Joe vs Carole (And Where Can You Watch it)?
Joe vs Carole will premiere on NBC’s Peacock streaming service on March 3, 2021. There will be eight episodes in this limited series. It remains to be seen how audiences and critics will react to this series. The second season of Tiger King was received with negative reviews and a lawsuit from Carole Baskin, and when the third season was published in December 2021, it was barely noted. According to Nicolas Cage, who was previously cast as Joe Exotic, Amazon scrapped a scripted Tiger King project because it was “no longer relevant.”
Check out Animal Planet’s Surviving Joe Exotic for a new perspective on this subject that has lasted many decades and multiple streaming providers. It focuses on the rescue of four large cats previously housed at Joe Exotic’s zoo and includes interviews with former Joe Exotic employees, animal protection organizations, and even Joe Exotic himself. Discovery+ is streaming this 2020 series on Amazon.
What Is Joe vs. Carole About?
Joe vs Carole promises to be a coming-of-age narrative for both Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin. The series will follow the events that led to Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin pursuing their own occupations and coming into conflict with one another, as well as Joe Exotic’s imprisonment for attempting to assassinate Carole Baskin. It’s unknown how much if at all, the series will address Carole Baskin’s husband, Don Lewis’s, disappearance.
If you’re unfamiliar with Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic’s feud, it all started with a shared love of big cats. Carole Baskin is the founder and CEO of Big Cat Rescue, as well as an animal rights activist. Joe Exotic, the former owner of Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, was known for his over-the-top animal exhibitions and breeding enormous cats for business, so it was only natural that she would wind up in a dispute with him. It appears less likely that this will escalate to attempted murder, as it did in the last case.
While most people are probably familiar with Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin, and their feud from Netflix’s 2020 series Tiger King, Joe vs Carole is based on a Wondery podcast. Over My Dead Body is a podcast that follows a different story each season, with the overriding subject of “people who are pushed to their limits and do unthinkable acts.” Joe vs Carole is the subtitle of Season 2 of Over My Dead Body, which focuses on Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin. Amazon Music has it available to listen to.
