Box Office Results: Smile Continues Reign While Lyle, Lyle Crocodile & Amsterdam Disappoint
According to Deadline, Smile maintained an outstanding second weekend gross of $17.6 million, a 22% drop from its first weekend. After Jordan Peele’s Get Out, the Park Finn movie earned the distinction of having the “second-best hold ever for an R-rated horror movie” with that sum.
The horror film from Paramount has made $50 million domestically. Smiling its way to a remarkable $90 million global gain, Smile has amassed $40 million from 61 markets worldwide.
The family movie Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, on the other hand, only made $11.5 million from 4,350 theaters since it wasn’t funny enough to lure large audiences. A star-studded comedy by David O’Russell called Amsterdam underperformed with $6.5 million from 3,005 screenings.
