Not too much is known about the highly anticipated upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, in a recent interview, MCU star Simu Liu did drop some hints on what fans can expect in the film.
Simu Liu, the star of Shanghai and the Legend of the Ten Rings, was questioned during a recent appearance at the BoxLunch Holiday Gala benefiting Feeding America. The actor was asked about director Destin Daniel Cretton, who not only directed Shanghai but is also currently working on the sequel and has also been confirmed to be the director for The Kang Dynasty. Liu congratulated his friend on the new position before making fun of a potential movie cameo for himself.
It feels fantastic. I undoubtedly became aware of the news a little earlier than the rest of the globe, but I panicked, Liu added. I must have texted him forty times in a row, all with exclamation points. I’m simply so immensely delighted for him because he deserves that position so much.
I’ve started this from the start, even while our picture was being premiered, but what makes him such a unique director is his ability to make a $150 million movie really, incredibly little, in the best manner. I’m eager to see what he creates on the even larger scale of The Avengers because I believe it’s simple to lose yourself in the spectacle, the vastness, and the grandeur of those films, but if you can keep the humanity and the human stories, I believe that’s what will make a film memorable and special, and I believe Destin has it. I believe he has it and that he richly deserves this. I’m ecstatic to work for him once more.

Liu was then questioned if he could confirm his participation in the movie in relation to that last statement. Liu admitted that he couldn’t but would imagine himself taking part in it. I would assume and fervently hope so. Don’t believe anything I say.
Cretton, who is presently collaborating with Marvel Studios on its live-action series adaptation of Wonder Man, will direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Currently set to open in theatres on May 2, 2025, the movie will be quickly followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 1, 2026.
The season finale of the Disney+ series Loki featured the reveal of Kang (played by Jonathan Majors), who many fans anticipated would eventually debut as Kang the Conqueror, the next major villain in the MCU. The term “Kang Dynasty” is also perhaps a reference to a 16-part Marvel comic book series where Kang and his son Marcus plot to take over the planet Earth.
