Rrr 2: The Sequel Is Officially in The Works, Says Director S.S. Rajamouli!
A sequel to the hit Indian action film RRR is in development, with director S.S. Rajamouli confirming to Variety that a story for a new film is currently in the works.
Rajamouli claims that his father, screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad, who has also written all of Rajamouli’s films, is now developing a new movie. All of my films’ stories were written by my father. During a recent showing of the movie in Chicago this past weekend, Rajamouli remarked, “We talked a little bit about [RRR 2] and he’s working on the story.” RRR 2 is currently too early in the production process for any plot or casting announcements to be made.

Although it may not come as a huge surprise, the news of a sequel will undoubtedly thrill fans. Prior to its release, the first movie had a reputation for having the biggest budget ever for an Indian production (about $72 million). However, after it was released, the movie blasted onto the scene and won praise from everyone for its directing, scripting, and performances. The movie broke the record for the highest opening-day box office performance for an Indian movie and went on to make more than 1,200 crores (about $175 million) globally, ranking it as the third-highest-grossing Indian movie of all time.
