In “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,” the Opening Weekend Roared to A Whopping Us$225 Million at The Worldwide Box Office!

The tiny hero from Marvel is generating buzz in theatres all over the world! With a global premiere over the weekend of US$225 million, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania launched Phase 5 with a comparatively huge bang.

The film grossed an estimated US$225 million worldwide after earning US$121 million overseas and US$104 million domestically at the box office. Moreover, the movie isn’t doing as well as anticipated in Asia, with its biggest international market, China, only bringing in US$19.2 million to date.

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprise their roles as the movie’s title heroes, and Jonathan Majors makes his acting debut as Kang the Conqueror, the villain of the piece. Peyton Reed once again serves as the film’s director. It is the third installment in the Ant-Man trilogy.

Despite the figures, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has garnered the worst criticism in the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise and the worst reviews of the Ant-Man series. The film has a depressing 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a “B” rating from CinemaScore.

According to Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com, Marvel has perhaps been more scrutinized than they are used to in the post-Endgame period due to several films and streaming series occasionally not connecting with critics and/or audiences as the brand is used to, which made this release even more crucial as it promises to launch Phase 5.

Although some critics weren’t fans of the third Ant-Man installment, people nonetheless showed up in large numbers to see the movie, with more tickets being sold throughout the first weekend than for any previous Ant-Man release.

Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantuma. Rudd, Lilly, Majors, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, and Kathryn Newton are among its cast members. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the MCU’s next major motion picture this May.
