Cristin Milioti Will Play Penguin in Colin Farrell-Headed Batman Spinoff!
Deadline reports that Palm Springs actress Cristin Milioti has officially agreed to play Colin Farrell’s love interest in the upcoming The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin, on HBO Max. The sci-fi dramedy made For Love was Milioti’s previous project with the streamer before this one.
Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Carmine Falcone, will compete with Farrell’s titular DC villain for control of Gotham City in Milioti’s portrayal of Sofia Falcone. Crystal Reed, a former Teen Wolf cast member, previously played the role in Fox’s superhero crime drama, Gotham.
The HBO Max series will center on Oswald Cobblepot’s history and chronicle his rise to dominance in Gotham’s sordid underworld rather than portraying him as the established kingpin. It is set in the universe of 2022’s The Batman. The Penguin has a long history of live-action portrayals; Danny DeVito is well known for playing the role in Batman Returns, while Robin Lord Taylor played him in Gotham.
Based on DC characters created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, the short-lived drama will be released. Lauren LeFranc, who will also serve as the showrunner, is writing it. Craig Zobel will helm the first two episodes.
Executive producers on The Penguin series will include Farrell, LeFranc, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassanand, Rafi Crohn, and The Batman’s Dylan Clark and Matt Reeves. It is a collaborative effort by 6th and Idaho, Dylan Clark Productions, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Television.
