1923 Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot, Trailer and All You Need to Know?

The first season of 1923 has ended, and we need a moment to reflect on it all. What comes next for the Duttons, a ranch family who barely made it through the Yellowstone prequel?

Not only do they have to worry about losing their source of income, but a death at the hands of Spencer Dutton is also certain to spark a lot of debate during the upcoming season.

1923 Season 2: Potential Release Date: When’s It On?

Those who enjoy works from 1923 are in for a real treat. The Dutton prequel will continue for a second season, as announced by Paramount Plus.

After a series premiere that ranked among the highest in cable viewership in the United States in 2022, the prequel was given the go-light for a second season in February of that year.

After the premiere of Season 1923 in December 2022, there is a remote possibility that Season 1923-2 could premiere before the end of this year. Brandon Sklenar, who plays Spencer Dutton gave a season-two update during an interview with TV Line, during which he disclosed that not only had filming not started but also that the screenplay was “still being written”.

1923 Season 2 Cast: Who Will Be Coming Back?

1923 Season 2

There were casualties in 1923’s first season.

Arthur Jr. was thrown overboard during a fight with Spencer and Alexandra, Earl of Sussex (and Alex’s ex-fiancé), and drowned in the water below.

Brandon Sklenar, an actor for the Spencer, has attributed Arthur’s demise to an accident: “It was more of a knee-jerk reaction, as the assailant was advancing on him while brandishing a firearm. This actually occurred. Spencer didn’t set out to murder him on purpose ” (via USA Today).

Arthur is dead in the water whether or not it was on purpose. The following, however, is likely to return for the upcoming season:

Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton; Robert Patrick as Sheriff William McDowell; Michelle Randolph as Elizabeth Strafford; Jerome Flynn as Banner Creighton; Aminah Nieves as Teonna Rainwater; Timothy Dalton as Donald Whitfield; Sebastian Roché as Father Renaud; Darren Mann as Jack Dutton; Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton; Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton;

1923 Season 2 Plot: What Will Happen?

While the script is still being written, anything is possible. We can only speculate at this point in time, but based on the events of that nail-biting climax, here’s what we think will happen.

At the end of the season, Donald Whitfield settled the property tax on the Yellowstone ranch. As long as he has control of the farm, the Duttons’ future is rather bleak. Unless, of course, they can scrounge up enough money to pay him back in a year. The more important query is what means will they have to employ to accomplish this.

Due to the depths of her mental anguish, Elizabeth’s storyline in the upcoming season promises to be both heartbreaking and riveting.

Sadly, the honeymoon ended for Alexandra and Spencer, and the repercussions of Arthurs’ death will continue to plague them well into season two.

1923 Season 2

According to Cara’s letter, Spencer has problems beyond the royal family as well. You can see Cara read the letter she sent to Spencer in the season finale. As it says here:

“To Spencer: I worry that all your parents battled for is being taken away. You are the only one who can save it; you are our only hope. Spencer, you have to get going. If not, there will be nothing worth fighting for.”

She crumples the letter, drops it in the snow, and heads back home.

What Will Happen in Season Two?

Even if Season 2’s overall trajectory is a mystery, we can at least guess what’s in store for the Duttons when we return. The family has suffered greatly financially due to the terrible winter, and until Spencer returns, they will not have the soldiers to fight against Whitfield.

Sklenar told Esquire that the “last act is sure to be dynamite” because Spencer’s story is “basically Homer’s Odyssey and the hero’s journey.” Spencer’s safe return is crucial to the success of many ongoing projects. It’s going to be an emotional reunion,” Sklenar said. “The man we meet in Season 2 Episode 1 is not the same as the one we see at the end of the season.

Thus, I can’t wait to get into the updated version of Spencer.” The second season is expected to consist of eight episodes, and the flagship Yellowstone series, which is full of drama, is anticipated to return in November.
