Ye Controversy: Kanye West Stirs Controversy in ‘white Lives Matter’ T-Shirt at Paris Fashion Week!
At the Yeezy Season 9 show, which starred Naomi Campbell, the rapper made a reference to Kim Kardashian’s robbery and the disagreement with Gap in 2016.
Although it was advertised as a “surprise” fashion show, no one was prepared for the level of shock they experienced. A “secret” Kanye West catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week featured a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt.
The garment, which prominently featured a photograph of Pope John Paul II on the front, was worn by models on the catwalk, West (who prefers to go by the moniker Ye), and the right-wing commentator Candace Owens (who was also in attendance).
At the beginning of the Yeezy Season 9 event, Ye declared, “Everyone here understands that I am the leader… you can’t handle me.” This is completely out of control.
He then went on to talk about his recent feud with Gap and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian‘s theft in Paris in 2016. Although she walked into the show, Naomi Campbell did not wear the offensive T-shirt. North West, the daughter of the rapper, directed a children’s choir that performed at the event.
A rephrasing of the Black Lives Matter slogan used in protests against police brutality, “White Lives Matter” has been labeled a hate speech by the Anti-Defamation League.

In the past, Ye has made some offensive remarks concerning race. He made a remark in 2018 about how 400 years of slavery in the US “seems like a decision,” but then tried to backtrack.
Having recently ended his collaborations with Gap and Adidas, the show was Ye’s comeback to the high fashion world. Ye ended a 2-year collaboration with Gap in September, citing the company’s failure to fulfill the conditions of the agreement.
Since then, he’s been critical of the $200 price tags that Gap slapped on the T-shirts. He said, “it’s time for me to go it alone,” when he decided to leave Adidas earlier that month.
Models at a 2016 New York Yeezy show were criticized for having to stand in the sun for lengthy periods without access to drink or shade. One of the models fainted during the performance, which took place on Roosevelt Island and ran two hours late.

The Paris runway exhibition was Ye’s fourth since he first showed his designs there in 2011. In 2008, he began his career in the fashion industry with an internship at Fendi; the following year, he made his first trip to Paris Fashion Week.
Paris is the high cathedral of fashion,” Ye said to Vogue Business. I’ll throw on a hoodie, call an Uber, and head over to Future’s place if I need to record some rap songs. Repeatedly, day after day. If we’re going to be making garments, then what? Paris.”
