Robbie Coltrane Controversy: An Analysis of Robbie Coltrane’s Contentious Views on J.K. Rowling

Author of the Robbie Coltrane “Harry Potter” series J.K. Rowling has used social media and her personal blog since 2020 to discuss her opinions on gender and sex, including her defense of a divisive British tax expert. They lost their job because they said guys couldn’t have their breasts removed and become ladies.

According to Entertainment Weekly, however, the cast of “Harry Potter,” including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, and Noma Dumezweni, all spoke out against her statements. Eddie Redmayne, star of “Fantastic Beats,” told Variety I’ve worked with J.K. Rowling and members of the trans community, so I feel obligated to state unequivocally where I stand. Contrary to what Jo has said, I think she is wrong.
