Sean Michael Maurice Taylor (April 1, 1983 – November 27, 2007) was a National Football League (NFL) safety for the Washington Redskins (NFL). The Redskins selected him fifth overall in the 2004 NFL Draft, and he played for them for four seasons before his murder in 2007.
Taylor led Gulliver Prep to a state championship in high school and established the state record for single-season touchdowns. Taylor attended Miami University and was a member of the 2001 BCS National Championship team, earning unanimous All-American accolades. He had a reputation as a hard-hitting player with the Redskins. His Washington teammates dubbed him “Meat” after the idiom “half man, half beast” because of his tackling abilities. In 2006, he made one Pro Bowl appearance.
Taylor was shot by intruders at his Miami area home during the 2007 season and died the next day, November 27.
His death sparked a national outpouring of support and sadness, particularly in the Washington, D.C., area, where he was a Redskin fan favorite, and the Miami area, where he had shined in high school and college. He was named to his second Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro team after his death. In 2008, Taylor was inducted into the Washington Ring of Fame.

Sean Taylor Girlfriend:
Sean Taylor was born in Florida to police officers Pedro Taylor and Donna Junor. He spent his early years in Homestead, Florida, with his great-grandmother Aulga Clarke, before moving to his father’s house at the age of 11. Pastor David Peay baptized Taylor at the Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church in Florida City. He grew up on a street dotted with candy-colored houses in a low-income Miami area.
Sean Taylor and Jackie Garcia met in high school when the former was just starting his high school football career at Gulliver Preparatory School, and they were high school sweethearts. Jackie had stood with him through thick and thin over the years, so it came as no surprise when they got engaged and decided to create a family together. They anticipated that their daughter, Jackie, would be the beginning of a large family. However, they had no idea that life had other plans for them.
Sean Taylor’s story begins in November 2007, when he was at home in Miami during a botched burglary attempt. Five miles from the Fort Myers region stormed into his home, oblivious to the fact that the NFL star was recovering from a knee injury and would not be playing in the Redskins’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One of the suspects stated that he challenged them with a machete at his bedroom door, which is when he was shot.
Taylor’s fiancée Jackie Garcia Haley and their 18-month-old daughter were also present, but they were unharmed. Sean Taylor was shot in the upper leg and suffered massive blood loss due to a severed femoral artery, which was the cause of death for the Redskins star. He was rushed to the hospital, but died 24 hours later, in one of the worst catastrophes in history.
Cause of death:
Taylor was shot and died at his house on Nov. 27, 2007, during his fourth season in the NFL, and was posthumously named a Pro Bowler and All-Pro, as well as inducted into Washington’s Ring of Fame.
Sean Taylor, her high school sweetheart and the father of her daughter, lay gasping for air in a pool of blood after he was shot by intruders at their home in Palmetto Bay, Florida in 2007. Jackie Garcia Haley told the court on Monday that Sean Taylor, her high school sweetheart and the father of her daughter, lay gasping for air in a pool of blood after he was shot by intruders at their home in Palmetto Bay, Florida in 2007.
‘I got a towel and tried to stop the bleeding,’ Ms. Haley, whose uncle is actor Andy Garcia, added, shaking her head. I dashed outside and screamed for assistance. I told them that someone was dying and that they should hurry.’ She testified at the trial of Eric Rivera, 23, the man accused of killing Taylor six years ago during a botched home invasion.
