The 95th Academy Awards, held at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday, were a huge success and lived up to its billing as the film industry’s biggest night.
After a night filled with firsts, including Everything, Everywhere, All at Once’s sweeping of the awards and costume designer Ruth E. Carter being the only Black woman to win two Oscars, the film finally received its due recognition.
But what really went on behind the scenes? Here is the inside scoop, exclusively available to PEOPLE:

It was a family affair at the Oscars for Jennifer Connelly as well. Bettany’s younger son, Stellan Connelly Bettany, is 19 years old, and the two of them posed for a photo together.

Matching stunning, colorful purple outfits, Angela Bassett and her 17-year-old daughter Bronwyn Golden walked the champagne carpet together.
Salma Hayek and her 15-year-old daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault enjoyed a matching outfit photo op. Both Hayek and her daughter wore fiery red gowns for the event; Hayek wore a sequined halter dress, while her daughter wore a strapless dress with a tulle skirt.
On the night of the 2023 Academy Awards, Lady Gaga helped a photojournalist up from the red carpet after he had fallen. The actress/singer turned around in her Versace dress (with a revealing back) to assist the fallen photographer.
