Her opening monologue at the 2022 BET Awards praised Lizzo and Live Nation’s $1 million donations to Planned Parenthood following the Supreme Court’s decision to repeal Roe V. Wade.

According to Taraji P. Henson, it’s about darn time Lizzo got the acclaim she so richly merits.
After the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the host of the 2022 BET Awards praised Lizzo for her sparkling performance of her 2022 hit “About Damn Time” at the beginning of the show, as well as her partnership with Live Nation to pledge $1 million to Planned Parenthood and abortion rights organizations.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to Lizzo, don’t we? You start a program like that, right? “Taraji P. Henson sparked the conversation. “There’s a lot of body positivity going on in this room. I want to express my gratitude to Lizzo for her $1 million donations to Planned Parenthood. Right on, and it’s about damn time, too.”

“It’s about damn time we step into our power,” Taraji said at the end of her speech.

“It’s about damn time that we talk about [the fact that] weapons have more power than women in America,” she remarked. “A terrible day for the United States. A weapon that can kill is more powerful than a woman who has the ability to give life if she chooses to do so. That needed to be said for the sake of my sanity.”

As soon as the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision, which established a person’s constitutional right to an abortion in the United States, was overturned, Lizzo took to Instagram to announce her vow to donate.

“Planned Parenthood and Abortion Rights will receive $500k of my upcoming tour proceeds. One million dollars was agreed upon by Live Nation to match, making it a total of one million dollars “She put pen to paper. “Action and strong voices are the most crucial.”

The National Network of Abortion Funds and other groups with similar purposes will “require funding to continue giving services to people who are most hurt by this restriction,” according to Lizzo, who plans to make a donation to Planned Parenthood.

Historically, women of color have been less likely to have access to family planning tools, she said, “This is a tremendous loss but not a new one.”
Finally, Lizzo urged her followers to pay money, join the petition to keep her body banned and sign up to volunteer.

Lizzo isn’t the only celebrity to weigh in on the subject. Pink took to Twitter on June 25 to express her support for the Supreme Court’s recent verdict on abortion rights.
