Netflix’s blockbuster show brought Dyer and Heaton together in 2015. Nancy Wheeler, played by Dyer, was in a love triangle with Heaton’s character, Jonathan Byers, and Joe Keery’s character, Steve Harrington, when viewers first saw her. By the end of the season, viewers were rooting for Dyer and Heaton to get together on and off-screen because of their excellent on-screen chemistry.
Before they were cast in their respective roles, it appears that the two had a strong connection. Co-creator Matt Duffer said in an interview with GQ, “We performed chemistry read with [Heaton and] Natalia, and sparks were flying. That was the first audition.”
