Matty Healy Seems to Talk About Dating Rumors About Taylor Swift on Stage: “Is It All a Bit?”

Matty Healy answered the questions that many people have been asking about his recent public outings with Taylor Swift this past weekend. On stage at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend event in Dundee, Scotland, on Saturday (May 27), the lead singer of the band 1975 spoke about the situation in a vague way.

“Is it all a bit?” he asked the crowd. He didn’t say exactly what “it” is, but he was probably referring to the rumors that he might be dating Swift. “Is it real? Will he ever talk about it? “In the next hour, you can forget about all of these questions and more,” Healy joked. “Gentlemen and ladies, this is 1975.”

Before Healy went back on the road in 1975, he was seen at Swift’s shows on The Eras Tour in Nashville and Philadelphia. There, he cheered on the “Anti-Hero” singer from the VIP tent and played guitar with the opening act, Phoebe Bridgers.

He wasn’t seen at her concerts in Foxborough, Massachusetts, after that, but at her May 20 show, Swift, who dated Joe Alywn for six years, gave fans a vague update on her life: “I’ve just never been this happy in my life, in all aspects of my life, ever,” she said from the stage, adding, “It’s not just the tour, I just kind of feel like my life finally makes sense.”

On May 16, Healy and Swift were seen leaving Electric Lady Studios in New York City together. This was a few hours after he was said to have been seen near her flat. As they left the studio to get to the car waiting outside, Healy put his hand on Swift’s lower back and led her past a group of fans.

A few days earlier, the singers were seen eating at Casa Cipriani in New York City, where they might have been holding hands. Jack Antonoff, a friend and partner they both knew, came to dinner with them.

Fans who were paying close attention at Swift’s May 5 show in Nashville saw that she mouthed the words “This one is about you. You’re aware of who you are. During her performance of “Cardigan,” she shouted “I love you” from the stage. Healy actually said the same thing two days earlier at his own show.
