Matteo Berrettini, born in Italy on April 12, 1996, is a professional tennis player. He goes by the Italian pronunciation [matto berrettini]. In January 2022, he was ranked No. 6 in the world by the ATP in singles play, and in July 2019 he was ranked No. 105 in doubles play. Berrettini has won six singles titles on the ATP Tour and advanced to the final of Wimbledon in 2021. As an added bonus, he has reached the semifinals or better in each of the four majors.
After turning pro in 2015, Berrettini won two singles titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour and three on the ATP Challenger Tour before finally cracking the ATP top 100 in May of this year. Two months later, in 2018, he made his first ATP Tour final at the Swiss Open, where he also won his first title and entered the ATP world’s top 60 for the first time.
Ajla Tomljanovic Is Matteo Berrettini’s Girlfriend
Ajla Tomljanovic entered this world on May 7, 1993, in Zagreb, the capital and largest city of Croatia. Before the 2014 French Open, her farthest in any Grand Slam tournament was the second round. Despite her early focus on doubles, she managed to rise to a career-high ranking of #39 in April 2019.
Although she has made four WTA finals, Tomljanovic has yet to win a tournament on the Women’s Tennis Association circuit. In February at the Hua Hin Championships in Thailand, Tomljanovic lost in the title match against Dayana Yastremska. The tennis player changed her allegiance from Croatia to Australia after playing for Australia at the 2014 US Open.
She was awarded permanent residency but had to play for Croatia in non-Grand Slam events until January 2018, when she was granted full Australian citizenship.

Is Berrettini Dating Tomljanovic?
While in Austria, the couple was spotted out and about, and rumors of their blossoming romance spread. While Tomljanovic’s WTA competition had concluded, Berrettini was playing in an event in Vienna.
And if that wasn’t obvious enough, tennis player Maria Sakkari replied to the photo on Instagram with a string of loving emojis. Because of their publicized relationship, the two sportsmen are often seen attending one other’s games to show support.
Berrettini stated, “Watching her match gives me ten times the anxiety I feel during my own match.” So, it’s fun for me when you and I play at the same time.
About five minutes ago, I finished first. Since I’m playing best of five, I couldn’t see if she won or lost in her match. This led me to speculate that “maybe she finished before me, perhaps she’s coming here.”

A Great Compatibility Exists Between Berrettini and Tomljanovic
A few months ago, Berrettini remarked that it’s helpful to be with someone who knows what it’s like to be on the Tour and is willing to commit to it.
To paraphrase, “I didn’t see myself as a future tennis star when I was a teenager.” This meant that I had a normal teenage existence. When I was in Rome, I enjoyed myself, but I never went out of my way to break the law. As I improved, I got a taste of what it would be like to be a professional tennis player and spend 10–11 months per year on the road.

It’s going to take some time to get used to. I’m dating Tomljanovic now, and it’s great because she really gets me and is prepared for the challenges of travel.
Every once in a while, my loved ones make the effort to join me on my adventures. When asked about his friends and family, Berrettini said, “I don’t see them as much as I’d want to, but they’re delighted to see me having pleasure in this dream.”
This past week, Berrettini joked that if he doesn’t allow Tomljanovic to train with him, the two of them will end up in a fight. Berrettini’s most recent match was in the Australian Open when he lost to Rafael Nadal in the semifinals.
